HOCKLEY, Texas – A person died early Wednesday following a collision involving a cement truck on Hempstead Highway, authorities said.
According to a report from ABC 13, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6 a.m. to the 35200 block of eastbound Hempstead Highway, where the crash occurred. Officials said the incident involved a cement truck and a second vehicle. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not released details about the cause of the crash or whether the person killed was in the truck or the other vehicle. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Eastbound lanes of Hempstead Highway and its intersection with Hegar Road remained closed for several hours as deputies worked to investigate the crash and clear debris. Drivers in the area were urged to avoid the scene and seek alternate routes.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Determining who is at fault in a truck accident can be much more complicated compared to typical collisions involving two passenger vehicles. This is because several parties may share responsibility, depending on how and why the crash occurred. Possible liable parties include:
It’s necessary to identify all potentially liable parties because liability determines whose insurance company is responsible for paying damages. It also influences the legal strategy a victim’s attorney employs and how much compensation may be available.
If you or someone you love has been hit by a commercial truck, you may be facing serious injuries, confusing paperwork, financial stress, and pressure from insurance companies. With all this going on, you shouldn’t also have to figure out who’s at fault or fight for fair compensation on your own.
However, these cases rarely move in a straight line, and there are numerous operators working in the background to avoid paying you what you deserve while you struggle. Trucking companies often have legal teams and insurers working to protect their bottom line rather than support your recovery.
A Houston truck accident attorney can remove the burden of fighting back. They’ll know how to uncover evidence, push back against lowball offers, and handle conversations you shouldn’t have to engage in on your own. With a lawyer guiding the process, you gain an advocate who’s focused on your best outcome, so you can focus on healing.
If you were involved in a collision with a commercial truck, an experienced Houston truck crash attorney can give you the support you need to move forward by managing your claim against the at-fault driver and other liable parties. Consider reaching out to a Houston truck collision lawyer right away to discuss your legal options.
