1 killed in cement truck crash on Hempstead Highway

HOCKLEY, Texas – A person died early Wednesday following a collision involving a cement truck on Hempstead Highway, authorities said.

According to a report from ABC 13, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6 a.m. to the 35200 block of eastbound Hempstead Highway, where the crash occurred. Officials said the incident involved a cement truck and a second vehicle. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not released details about the cause of the crash or whether the person killed was in the truck or the other vehicle. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Eastbound lanes of Hempstead Highway and its intersection with Hegar Road remained closed for several hours as deputies worked to investigate the crash and clear debris. Drivers in the area were urged to avoid the scene and seek alternate routes.
