Teen arrested after crashing stolen vehicle into school bus in Humble, deputies say

HUMBLE, Texas — A 17-year-old is in custody after a short vehicle pursuit ended with a crash involving an Aldine ISD school bus carrying students in northeast Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a Fox 26 report, the incident began late Tuesday afternoon when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle flagged as stolen by a license plate reader near Hopper Road and U.S. 59. Officials said the teen driver refused to stop, initiating a brief pursuit that lasted about five minutes.

The chase ended when the suspect reportedly ran a red light near the Eastex Freeway service road and collided with the rear of a school bus transporting students from Aldine Middle School.

Authorities said there were 28 students on board. Emergency responders transported four children to a hospital for evaluation of what were described as minor injuries. The remaining students were assessed at the scene.

Deputies recovered a stolen firearm from the suspect’s vehicle. The teen was evaluated by emergency medical personnel before being transported to the Joint Processing Center. No further details about charges have been released, but investigators say the teen could face multiple felonies related to vehicle theft and weapons possession.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office traffic unit is continuing to investigate the incident. Aldine ISD said it is cooperating with law enforcement and emphasized that student safety is a priority.
